About Me

Me and my Hubby

Honestly, I am not fond of these “About Me” segments.  I really don’t like to talk about myself, but as a blog reader myself, it really helps you to connect with the person behind the material being presented. So here goes…

My name is Clarissa Hallowell, and I am a middle-aged housewife.  I spent many years in the classroom teaching, but due to an autoimmune disease I had to abandon my passion for something less stressful. I began staying home with my then middle-schooler son.  It wasn’t too long before friends with kids began to  find me and I was asked to do childcare in my home.  It was much less stressful than a classroom, but it definitely had its days.  The first child I took in was 10 months old.  He was such a great baby, and it wasn’t long before we were really close.  After a few months his parents asked my husband and I to be his Godparents.  What an honor!  We were thrilled, especially since when my husband and I were married we were planning for 4 kids, but because of my illness we just have the one. Today, I have 2 wonderful Godsons and just found out I have one on the way! The one thing I am most proud of is that I am a Navy Mom.  My son serves our country and I am proud of the man he has become through this experience.  The best thing I have EVER done is say yes to my best friend when he asked me to marry him many moons ago.

I am blogging for several reasons. One, I love to encourage others, and two, I love to learn all sorts of new things. My very favorite subject is finances. Everything I know I, learned the hard way, and from a verity of sources.  Lots of trail and error here.  The third reason I started blogging is because I wanted to connect with people just like me that are learning how to take control of their finances, and put themselves and their family in a better situation. I am a kinesthetic learner who enjoys implementing what I have learned, and always look forward to discovering new things from others.  Please feel free to leave me a post. I’d love to get to know you!
